Gelding
Geldings are the preferred gender of choice when referring to the general public. They have the most stable and predictable attitude while being able to maintain their composure longer under stressful situations. Geldings are a great option for novice riders that want to get a feel for horses.
Mare
The mare is a sound gender that has more will and enthusiasm to complete what they want. If your training goes well that should also be what you want. Mare's require more of a bond to reach the efficiency of a gelding and depending on your horsemanship type, you would do better off with a gelding.
Stallion
Stallions find incentive to complete instructions based on their own personal desires. An extremely complex and developed relationship is required in order to achieve the efficiency of a gelding, although an extremely well trained stallion can far exceed the efficiency of both a gelding and mare.
