Facial Markings
Almost all horses have facial markings regardless if the markings are a wide white strip, a hair curl on their forehead, or even nothing at all. This article will teach you about these markings in a snap.
Facial Markings
Bald Face
Whenever the white facial marking of a horse comes in contact or passes over the eyes, it is considered a bald face. The white may cross one or both eyes.

Blaze
A white marking more than an inch in thickness that travels down the entire length of the horses face. Almost always accompanied by a straight snip.
Stripe
A white marking less than an inch wide that travels the entire length of the horses head down. Sometimes accompanied by a leaning or straight snip at the bottom.

Snip
The white discoloration on a horses upper lip. This may lean left, right or travel straight. A horse without a stripe or blaze may have a snip.
Star
A white marking located anywhere in the center of the forehead. A star will most commonly be the shape of a circle or a diamond but can vary.
